Director Atlee pleasantly surprised fans on Thursday night with an unexpected visit to Mumbai’s iconic Gaiety Galaxy Cinema. As he left the theater, he found himself surrounded by paparazzi keen to inquire about the outstanding performance of his film. Atlee graciously attributed the success of “Jawan” to Shah Rukh Khan and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the audience for their overwhelming support.
He stated, “Love everyone. Everyone is reciprocating the love. Everyone adores Shah Rukh Khan.” When questioned about the film’s success, Atlee humbly added, “It’s all thanks to Shah Rukh sir.”
“Jawan” premiered on September 7, transforming into a nationwide celebration. Videos of fans dancing inside and outside theaters, setting off fireworks, and enjoying colorful celebrations from all corners of the country quickly became viral on social media. Shortly after the film’s release, during an exclusive interview with CNN News18, Atlee extended his sincere appreciation to the audience and stated, “The movie speaks for itself. I don’t want to say much. Thank you all. Love you.”
Later in the day, Shah Rukh Khan also responded to the film’s blockbuster opening, expressing his ‘overwhelming’ gratitude. He wrote, “Wow, I need to take a moment to thank each and every Fan Club and all of you who enthusiastically flocked to the theaters, even outside. I’m so overwhelmed and will surely express my gratitude once I catch my breath in a day or two. Uff!! Love you all for loving #Jawan.”
Meanwhile, “Jawan” has made history as the highest Bollywood opener of all time. Atlee’s directorial masterpiece shattered all records, grossing over Rs 75 crore nett on its first day across all languages in India. According to Sacnilk.com, the Hindi version alone earned a staggering Rs 65 crore nett, setting a new benchmark in advance bookings. This achievement surpasses even “Pathaan,” which had grossed Rs 57 crore nett on its opening day.
Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, “Jawan” features a stellar cast, including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles. Deepika Padukone also makes a special extended cameo appearance in the film.
