The month of September, often referred to as ‘Techtember’ by the tech community online, is widely known for being packed with smartphone launches, spearheaded by the annual unveiling of new iPhones. This year is following the same trend, as September is poised to witness a series of fresh releases, ranging from the latest iPhone 15 models to budget-friendly flagships like the Honor 90.
After the flurry of August launches, including Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, September will start with the much-anticipated release of the iPhone 15 models on September 12.
Now, let’s explore the upcoming smartphone launches expected this month across various price categories:
iPhone 15 Series
Apple is gearing up for its ‘Wonderlust’ event, where it is anticipated to introduce the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are likely to maintain their 6.1-inch screen size, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Plus will also feature the same 6.7-inch screen size.
The ‘Pro’ models are expected to showcase Apple’s advanced 3nm-based A17 Bionic chipset and an enhanced camera system. Reports suggest that the higher-end iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra may even incorporate a periscope zoom lens for improved zoom capabilities.
Concerning the standard iPhone 15 models, a significant addition could be the inclusion of the ‘Dynamic Island,’ previously exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro models. However, the iPhone 15 is projected to incorporate last year’s flagship processor, the A16 Bionic, from the iPhone 14 Pro models. There is also speculation of a potential price increase for the iPhone 15 Pro models.
Honor 90
Following Honor’s re-entry into the Indian market, there has been much speculation about their inaugural launch in the country. It has now been unveiled that Honor will introduce the Honor 90 smartphone in the Indian market this month. Operating under the name Honor Tech in India, the brand is set to present the Honor 90, expected to feature a spacious 6.7-inch display, powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, and equipped with a triple-camera setup. While Honor has not yet disclosed the pricing, reports indicate that the new Honor 90 could be priced around the Rs 35,000 range.
Motorola Moto G84
The Motorola Moto G84 has already been revealed in India and will be available for purchase starting September 8. With a price tag of Rs 19,999, it comes equipped with a Snapdragon 695 chipset, a generous 12GB+256GB configuration, and a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) support.
OnePlus Open
OnePlus is generating anticipation with its inaugural foldable device, the OnePlus Open, expected to be unveiled this September. Speculation suggests that the design and construction may draw inspiration from the sister brand Oppo’s Find N2, and it will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The device is anticipated to feature a 7.1-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display, with a robust build quality, including a sturdy hinge mechanism. The OnePlus Open will directly compete with other foldables, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 5 and the Google Pixel Fold.
