Renowned Bollywood icon Kareena Kapoor Khan recently spoke openly about her interfaith marriage with actor Saif Ali Khan, a union that took place in a private ceremony in 2012. Despite the public’s interest in their relationship, particularly the 10-year age gap between them, the couple remains unperturbed.
During an Express Adda event in Mumbai, Kareena expressed her views, stating, “We invest an excessive amount of time discussing interfaith relationships and fixating on the 10-year age difference. However, the core of the matter is to simply have a good time. The most vital aspect of our relationship, Saif and I, is our genuine fondness for each other and the pleasure we derive from each other’s company. Why should it matter which faith he follows or what his age is? These aren’t even topics worth deliberating.”
When asked about her response to critics who question the age gap between her and Saif, Kareena replied, “When has age ever been relevant? He’s as attractive as ever. I’m glad I’m 10 years younger; he should be the one who’s concerned. No one would even guess he’s 53. Age is inconsequential; what truly counts is the respect, love, and the enjoyment we share together.”
Prior to her marriage to Kareena, Saif was previously married to Amrita Singh. They wed in January 1991 and parted ways in 2004 after a 13-year marriage, resulting in two children – Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. In 2012, Saif and Kareena exchanged vows, and they now have two children together – Taimur Ali Khan and Jeh Ali Khan.
On the professional front, Kareena Kapoor is gearing up to make her debut on the OTT platform with “Jaane Jaan,” directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film is scheduled to stream on Netflix from September 21. An adaptation of Keigo Higashino’s book “The Devotion of Suspect X,” this crime thriller also features Vijay Varma and Jaideep Alhawat. Interestingly, before Kareena, Sujoy had approached Saif Ali Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the film in 2015.
