Ace choreographer Saroj Khan’s contribution to the Bollywood industry stands unparalleled. With a career that spanned over four decades, Saroj choreographed more than 2000 songs, including iconic hits such as Hawa Hawai, Ek Do Teen, and Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai, among others. Unfortunately, Saroj passed away in 2020 due to a cardiac arrest. However, recent reports indicate that director Hansal Mehta and producer Bhushan Kumar are collaborating on a biopic project to celebrate her life.

As reported by Pinkvilla, this project is currently in the developmental phase and is scheduled to begin production around 2024. According to an insider, “The biopic is presently in the writing stage, and the team plans to tell Saroj Khan’s story in an episodic format. Saroj Khan’s journey in the industry serves as a profound inspiration for countless dancers worldwide, and Hansal Mehta is meticulously researching every aspect of her life.”

“The goal is to pay tribute to Saroj Khan’s remarkable contribution to the world of dance. While the world dances to her choreography, only a few truly understand the dedication and hard work that propelled her to the pinnacle of her field,” the source added, hinting at the biopic’s exploration of lesser-known aspects of the choreographer’s life.

Bhushan Kumar also confirmed the project in an interview with Pinkvilla. He discussed his ongoing projects, stating, “We are working on a biopic of Saroj Ji, which Hansal Sir is directing and producing. Currently, it’s in the scripting phase. In the realm of OTT platforms, comprehensive writing is essential, and it’s even more crucial when it comes to a biopic.”
