Ameesha Patel, who made a remarkable entry into the film industry with her debut hit “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai” and later starred in “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,” recently disclosed that during a challenging phase in her career when her films were thriving, Hrithik Roshan confided in her about his struggles. She recalled a time when, after initial success, Hrithik rose to stardom, only to face setbacks driven in part by the very audience that had once celebrated him.
In a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Ameesha mentioned that she maintains a close friendship with Hrithik and received a heartfelt message from filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik’s father, congratulating her on the success of “Gadar 2.” The film had amassed an impressive sum of Rs 506 crore in India, with hopes of surpassing the all-time Hindi film record set by “Pathaan” at Rs 543 crore.
Reflecting on their conversations during the filming of “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai,” Ameesha revealed that Hrithik had worked with renowned directors such as Sooraj Barjatya, Subhash Ghai, Yash Raj Films, and even collaborated with her, yet success remained elusive. She mused on the unpredictable nature of fame, stating, “One Friday, Hrithik Roshan becomes one of the most influential figures in the country, second only to the Prime Minister, and the next Friday, his films face rejection from the same audience. What kind of world is this? But I believe Hrithik is more than mortal; he’s a true superstar with enduring talent,” she emphasized.
Ameesha admitted to feeling disheartened when she witnessed Hrithik’s rapid rise and fall from grace, often being labeled as a one-hit wonder and compared to previous instances of such in the industry—a label she found unfortunate. She fondly remembered the announcement of “Koi… Mil Gaya” three years later and expressed confidence in his eventual triumphant return.
Ameesha also disclosed that there were moments when Hrithik faced disappointments due to the underperformance of his films, and she reassured him that things would eventually improve. She shared, “Naturally, he was upset. When our first film was such a massive hit, the subsequent downturn was understandably harder to bear. He’d say, ‘But Ameesha, you delivered ‘Gadar,’ and I’m delivering flops.’ I assured him not to worry, as the tides would inevitably turn.” Ameesha acknowledged that Hrithik was grappling with the burden of comparative analysis during those challenging times.
Today, Hrithik Roshan stands as one of the top stars in the country, a testament to his enduring talent and resilience.
